A professional flat iron closing over a strand of hair during a salon straightening

Treatment time, product and professional hands: what you pay for in a straightening.

What hair straightening costs. What determines the price.

Two clients with the same hair length can pay completely different prices, and rightly so. Here is why, and what to ask before comparing prices.

Price ranges in Israel

Type of straighteningSalon price rangeWhat is usually included
Keratin straightening500 to 1,500 ₪Diagnosis, wash, straightening, drying
Japanese straightening800 to 2,000 ₪A long treatment of 4 to 7 hours
Organic straightening600 to 1,500 ₪Varies a lot by brand
Root treatment (touch-up)300 to 700 ₪Only on the new growth

The ranges are estimates based on public price lists of salons in Israel in 2026. Herboss straightening prices are set separately by each certified salon, based on the diagnosis.

Five things that move the price

  1. Length and thickness. Thick hair down to the waist needs twice the product and twice the time of shoulder-length hair.
  2. Hair condition. Bleached or damaged hair needs a diagnosis, a strand test and sometimes a different processing time.
  3. Type of product. A registered product, free of formaldehyde and glyoxylic acid, costs the salon more than an anonymous product. That difference is what you are paying for.
  4. Experience and training. A stylist trained on the specific product knows how long to process and how much heat to apply. That is the difference between a result that lasts and a correction a month later.
  5. What is included at the finish. A wash in the salon, salt-free shampoo and mask, and home-care guidance. With Herboss straightening this is part of the protocol.

When a low price ends up costing more

Straightening for 300 shekels usually means a cheap product, a short processing time, or both. The result: smooth hair for two weeks, or burnt hair. Fixing burnt hair costs more than a good straightening. Before comparing prices, compare what is inside: registration number, ingredients, and who is doing the work.

By hair length

LengthKeratin straighteningJapanese straighteningTreatment time
Shoulder length500 to 900 ₪800 to 1,300 ₪2 to 3 hours
Mid-back700 to 1,200 ₪1,100 to 1,600 ₪3 to 4 hours
Waist length and longer900 to 1,500 ₪1,400 to 2,000 ₪4 to 5 hours

Thick or afro hair sits at the top of each range, and fine hair at the bottom. The ranges are estimates based on public price lists in Israel in 2026.

Straightening for 299: what is missing

Deals like these exist, and they usually give up one of three things: the product (a cheap bottle with no registration), time (short processing, a one-hour treatment) or experience (the person doing it is still learning). Sometimes the price is only for short hair, and the rest is added at the till. Before you are tempted, ask what the registration number is, how long the treatment takes, and what the price is for your length.

Straightening as a yearly calculation

A client who gets a salon blow-dry once a week pays more over a year than for a good straightening, and still wakes up with frizz. One straightening where the treated hair stays smooth, plus a root treatment as it grows, is in most cases the lower expense, and the shorter morning too.

The salon's side

What the salon pays for the product is only part of the cost: the stylist's time, the training, and responsibility for the result. A quality product with a protocol gives a known number of treatments per bottle and fewer corrections, so the price to the client reflects not just the bottle but confidence in the result. How salons choose a product.

What to ask on the phone

  • Which product, and what its registration number with the Israeli Ministry of Health is.
  • Whether there is formaldehyde or glyoxylic acid.
  • How long the treatment takes, and what happens at the finish.
  • Whether the price includes a diagnosis and a later root treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there such a big gap between salons?

Because of the product, the time and the experience. The first two you can check with one question about the registration number and the length of the treatment.

How much does Herboss straightening cost?

The price is set by each certified salon according to the hair diagnosis. List of certified salons.

Is it cheaper to buy the product and do it at home?

No. Professional straightening product is not sold for home use, and without controlled heat and correct processing times the result either does not last or damages the hair.

How much does a root touch-up cost?

Usually 300 to 700 shekels, because only the new growth is treated.

Does the price include a wash at the finish?

With Herboss straightening, yes. The hair is washed in the salon with salt-free shampoo and mask as part of the protocol. Elsewhere, ask.

Is there a price difference between the centre of the country and the periphery?

Usually small. The big difference is between one product and another and between one stylist and another, not between cities.
